Say Anything last night. They were awesome. (Taken with instagram)
Top Artists for the week ending Sunday 25 March 2012
- Every Time I Die (15)
- Van Halen (12)
- Say Anything (10)
- The Mars Volta (9)
- Young the Giant (8)
The Mars Volta will be one of those bands that puts out an amazing debut album and then never matches it again, which is a real bummer because De-Loused in the Comatorium is one of my favorite albums. Frances the Mute and The Bedlam in Goliath were pretty good and the rest, save a couple stand out songs, have been pretty bad.
Just out of this list was M83. I fired up Spotify to give the latest album a listen since they seem to be another band everyone has been buzzing about. But just like the last buzz band, Gotye, I couldn’t get into it, at all. Although, their current single “Midnight City” is pretty good, but I feel like it should be playing over an 80’s movie’s credits.

Top Artists for the week ending Sunday 18 March 2012
- Van Halen (9)
- Young the Giant (8)
- Say Anything (5)
- Dance Gavin Dance (5)
- Fall Out Boy (4)
Van Halen made new music! With David Lee Roth! … And while it’s predictably not nearly as good as anything they put out back in the day, it’s still awesome to hear new music from them that doesn’t suck. That in itself is noteworthy since I can’t think of too many classic rock bands that put out quality albums now a days. I wouldn’t listen to the album straight through too much but it’s definitely a good album to have on shuffle with some other stuff.

Yes, new Every Time I Die is still dominating my speakers, I can’t get enough of it. Now I’m kind of bummed I didn’t get tickets for their current tour, but I’m sure they’ll be around again soon.

The only thing that matters on this list is that Every Time I Die came out with a new album AND IT IS AMAZING. It’s a good musical kick in the balls. Go buy it.

Top Artists for the week ending Sunday 12 February 2012
- The Darkness (21)
- blink-182 (20)
- Say Anything (17)
- Nine Inch Nails (12)
- The Beatles (11)
Looks like it was a week of old music for the most part, probably due to the long drive to Mammoth and back. I usually just put my phone on shuffle on trips. This is why Beatles and NIN showed up; I have an ungodly amount of tracks from both groups on my phone so they show up more often. The Beatles are also fitting, after the realization that some people still have no clue who Paul McCartney is. Blasphemy.
I listened to The Darkness’ first album a couple times after seeing that Super Bowl commercial, it is still phenomenal. I can’t wait to see them on Sunday. Dude Ranch was also on rotation this week, as well as the new Say Anything album, which may be my favorite one yet.

Top Artists for the week ending Sunday 29 January 2012
- Say Anything - 39
- The Weeknd - 35
- Anthony Green - 9
- Skrillex - 7
- Chris Cornell - 6
I grabbed the leak of Anarchy, My Dear (preordered as well), and it is amazing. I was a little worried because Max had been tweeting that it was going to be different, but not to my ears. It feels like a natural progression from their self titled album; not really sure how to describe it besides being “smart” pop punk. It’s good, buy it when it’s out.
The rest is just the same stuff I was listening to last week.
